              Welcome!

__This website will document my progress through the Band Instrument Repair program at Minnesota State Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, Minnesota.  Over the next school year I will learn how to overhaul a trumpet, flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon.  My program of study will culminate in an eight week independent study in oboe, bassoon and bass clarinet repair.  I suppose one could say I am going to be a specialist of the neglected reeds.

During my independent study I am also going to delve into custom designed reed tools.  Due to my newly acquired machining skills, I have the ability to manufacture tools tailored to each reed maker's unique style.  My independent study will include a re-designed reed dial indicator.  As my lathe skills improve, I plan to branch out and create custom tools such as forming mandrels and reed dial indicators.

I hope that my friends, family, and potential employers will find this page informative!

*I have provided some explanations for the non-musicians and/or non-technicians viewing this page - enjoy!
